Bluehost & Rank Math SEO incompatibility?

    Rank Math free

Hi, Yesterday my website went down, and my error logs showed it was due to Rank Math SEO. As soon as we turned off the plugin, my site was back.
I’m using Bluehost as a hosting provider.
When I added Rank Math on Tuesday (14th Nov), it was working fine. The website shut down on Wednesday evening around 8PM CET. You can see on the screenshot, it says Error 521.

I’m afraid to reenable Rank Math, even though it says it’s compatible with my current WP version (6.4.1). It said it was compatible with my WP on Tuesday as well. Do you know other cases where this similar thing happened?

Thank you for your help in advance,
    Zsófia Baranyai

  • Hello,

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you experienced with Rank Math SEO on your website. It’s definitely concerning that your website went down after enabling the plugin.

While Rank Math SEO is compatible with Bluehost and WordPress, there could be a conflict with another plugin or theme causing the issue. To resolve this, you can start by checking for a plugin conflict using the Health Check plugin. Here’s a link to a guide that can help you with that: Check Plugin/Theme Conflict With Rank Math.

If you are running W3 Total Cache along with Rank Math on your website, you can also create another user agent group and add the ‘googlebot’ user agent to it. Additionally, you can include a filter in your theme’s functions.php or rank-math.php file to disable sitemap caching.

If these solutions don’t help resolve the issue, please let us know, and we’ll be happy to assist further.

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Hi, The fact that it returned an Error 521, doesn’t it mean it’s some hosting error? Could you please check the screenshot too?

Although, in the Errorlog we found yesterday, it mentioned Rank Math SEO, that’s why we turned it off.

    Hello,

Error 521: Web server is down indicates a website is experiencing a server-side issue. Could you please confirm if you have already contacted Bluehost regarding this?

However, please share the error log so we can check and advise accordingly if the issue is in Rank Math.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested, with the screenshots of the errorlogs.
The first time it happened, it was displaying Rank Math, and then this autoindex: error appeared. And it keeps appearing since then.
    Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

From the first screenshot, it seems like new tables are not getting created in the Database or some old plugin has left an incorrect entry.

For initial troubleshooting, please follow these steps to fix the issue:

You can follow only the first 2 steps and clear your caches. The following steps mentioned in the article are for advanced users.
