In my site webpagespots.com, in root folder, I uploaded two PNG icons 100*100.

    In public_html – apple-touch-icon-precomposed.png and apple-touch-icon.png

In Header – I added this code:
    <link rel=”icon” type=”image/png” href=”/apple-touch-icon.png” sizes=”100×100″ />
    <link rel=”apple-touch-icon” href=”/apple-touch-icon.png”>

But still in my Dashboard, I’m seeing this error –
    https://webpagespots.com/how-to-get-your-ex-back-after-a-toxic-relationship/apple-touch-icon.png
    404 Not Found.

This is not a single error, every URL like above shows 404.

After Googling, I’m unable to fix this error, so I’m creating this ticket.

  • Hello,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing issues with setting up the Apple Touch Icon for your website. It seems like you’ve followed the correct steps to add the icon, but it’s still showing a 404 error.

Based on the information you’ve provided, it looks like you’ve added the code for the Apple Touch Icon in the header correctly. However, it seems that the file is not being found at the specified location.

To resolve this issue, please ensure that the file is uploaded to the correct directory and that the file name matches the one specified in the code. Additionally, you may want to check the file permissions to ensure that it is accessible to your website.

If the issue persists, I recommend reaching out to your web hosting provider for further assistance in troubleshooting this matter.

If you have any further questions or need additional help, please feel free to reply to this ticket, and our support team will be glad to assist you further.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

What does this means (Redirect all attachment)? See attached

pls explain in simple words with example if possible

    Hello,

    Apologies for the inconvenience.

If you have uploaded the image to your website’s root directory, then the file name should be after your domain name:
    https://webpagespots.com/apple-touch-icon.png

You’ll see above that it is opening fine as well. The path you initially shared means that you have a folder named how-to-get-your-ex-back-after-a-toxic-relationship.

When you upload a media file to the WordPress Media Library, WordPress creates a separate media attachment page for each individual file, and having the attachment pages as “noindex” or redirecting to the parent page is actually the preferred method to handle those.

In this case, you can redirect those attachments by following the steps in this link:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/should-you-redirect-attachments/

    Hope that helps.

The path you initially shared means that you have a folder named how-to-get-your-ex-back-after-a-toxic-relationship.

No, it’s not a folder, it’s the blog post title. Which is showing a 404 error in rankmath dashboard when /apple-touch-icon.png in the end of post url.

    ????? How to fix it….

    Hello,

    Thank you for your patience.

It will end in 404 since the path is incorrect unless you upload the image under a folder named how-to-get-your-ex-back-after-a-toxic-relationship, which will break your post’s URL.

As previously mentioned, you have uploaded the image to your root directory, and can be accessed here:
    https://webpagespots.com/apple-touch-icon.png

These URLs typically refer to the custom icons used for Apple devices when a user adds your website to their home screen, but these won’t have any effect on how your website works.

Moreover, you can add them to the exclusion list at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor > Exclude Paths.

    Looking forward to helping you.

Moreover, you can add them to the exclusion list at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor > Exclude Paths.

You mean, I’ve to add each URL like this one by one there?

    Hello,

No, you can add the exact path in the Exclusion field as /apple-touch-icon.png and it will exclude any URLs from your site with that path

    Exclusion

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
