Alternative page with proper canonical tag

Hello I get “Alternate Page with Proper Canonical Tag Status” in Google Search Console.
The page it is referring to is a redirected page. Do I need to do anything or there is something wrong with the canonical or redirection setup?

Many thanks for your support in advance!
    Sara

    Hello Reinelle,

Thanks for your email, here there is the link https://digitallysara.com/. This page has got a 301 redirect in place, so I’m not sure if this is really an issue or not.

    Many thanks in advance
    Sara

    Hello,

I’ve checked the link you shared, and indeed there’s a 301 redirect to the WWW version of your site.

So, in this case, the redirect is working as it should be since that is the correct URL.

However, to figure out how Google is discovering those URLs, you should use the URL inspection tool of your GSC account to check the URLs and check the referring page where are they coming from.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Hi Reinelle,

Thanks for coming back to me.

To be clear, what urls do I need to text? I’ve inspected all the urls of the site and the referring page is almost always “not detected”. So I really don’t understand how Google is discovering this URL.

However, in your experience, do you think this issue could be affecting my rankings?

    Many thanks in advance
    Sara

    Hello,

You would need to inspect the non-www version of your site: https://digitallysara.com/

No, these pages are not always meant to be fixed. If the page is not causing any problems and redirects users to the correct page/version, then there is no need to fix it.

However, if you’re receiving reports from users that the page is not working correctly, or if you happen to notice incorrect pages are being redirected, then you’ll need to investigate and fix the issue.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Hi Reinelle,

    Ok thanks, all clear!

I don’t think this page is to be fixed then, my only fear was that this issue might affect the rankings of the site, but I don’t think this is the case though.

Thanks for looking into this and coming back to me, really appreciated.

    Best wishes,
    Sara
