    Hi,

I’ve been trying to put my focus keyword as alt txt on the (number 1 product) but Rank math doesn’t recognise it.
    https://vegan-supermarket.uk/womens-vegan-watches/

Also, it seems that there is a bug in RM because it cannot ignore an apostrophe.
It seems that you have to make suggestions EXACTLY as the focus keyword.
    Example; Focus KW; women’s
If you type in womens, it will flag up an error and give you low score!
Maybe you should update this feature?

    Thanks,
    Brian

  • Hello,

Thanks for contacting us, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

I can see that the alt text women's vegan watch has been added fine on that particular image.

Also, the keywords women's and women looks to be calculated equally for the SEO score and it’s not being counted as duplicate as well.

So if the alt text has been added. Why does rm say it hasn’t?

That doesn’t tally with what I’m seeing on my rm.

Please try the below to see what I’m experiencing

    Hello,

Exactly! You’ll need to add the exact same focus keywords to pass the test and score higher.

We are pretty strict about matching the keywords since it brings better results for your SEO.

    But my point is;
    Google ignores apostrophes.
I think rm should also ignore the apostrophe to be more representative of Google.
    Don’t you agree?

    Hello,

Yes, Google may treat those words as the same, however, in our plugin, the alt text needs to contain the exact focus keyword you have entered. Unlike Yoast or other SEO plugins which are forgiving when it comes to matching the keywords with more than 1 word or word with apostrophes in their tests, Rank Math needs to have an exact match.

At the moment, we don’t have immediate plans on changing this behavior.

With that said, if this is something we can improve, we will be sure to let you know.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Hello,

Currently, there is a bug in content analysis when using quotes in ALT text and that’s why our plugin is not able to detect the focus keyword in the ALT text of the images. We are working on fixing this and you can keep an eye on our changelog to get notified when we release an update with the fix. https://rankmath.com/changelog/

And we are working on improving the content analysis of our plugin to detect the variations of the focus keyword.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch in case you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hi,

I’m still having the same problem.
RM says; Add an image with your Focus Keyword as alt text

I did this but RM is still not recognising it.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

It seems like you added the ALT text to the image after adding it to the post. The editor doesn’t fetch the ALT text that is inserted after adding the image and that’s why it wasn’t being added to the image and you were failing the test.

I added the image again and now the post is passing the ALT text:

Please check and let us know if you need any other assistance.

    Ok understood.
Was the alt txt in the page code INITIALLY? (Even though it failed the rm test?

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us.

Yes, it would have been in the page’s source even if we didn’t detect it. Glad everything is working fine now, please do not hesitate to reach out again if you need help with anything else.
