Activating Rank Math causes Viewing a media item in Library to redirect to home

    Hi might you know or guess why activating Rank Math causes Viewing a media item in my WordPress Media Library to redirect to my home page.

    If I deactivate Rank Math (and Rank Math Pro, which I have), then when I click “View” under a media item in my media library, ad image of the media item appears, as it should.

    But if I then activate Rank Math, and even if I then deactivate all redirects in Rank Math, then when I click “View” under a media item in my media library, I am taken straight to my home page instead to a view of the media item.

    Your Rank Bot recommends I disable Redirect Orphan Attachments to address this issue, but I do not have a Redirect Orphan Attachments option under Links under the General Settings of Rank Math as Rank Bot suggests that I should.

    Any help will be appreciated!

    Hello,

    When you upload a media file to the WordPress Media Library, WordPress creates a separate media attachment page for each file, and having the attachment pages as “noindex” or redirecting to the parent page is actually the preferred method to handle those and we mention the same here:

    In essence, this means that there’s nothing to worry about the attachment pages as the images from the website can and will still be indexed, it’s just the attachment pages, which don’t hold any SEO value, that will not get indexed.

    However, if you’re using the attachment page, then you can disable the redirect attachment option in Rank Math > General Settings > Links. If it’s not showing, you must have chosen to use Easy Mode.
