404 error message confusion

    In the 404 monitor I am getting alot of messages that I have no idea what they mean as they are not post or pages URL’s I don’t know why they are there and if i should be deleting or redirecting them?

    for example here are a few
    wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/assets/css/frontend.csswp-sale.js

    humans.txt

    sftp-config.json

    prevlaravel/sftp-config.json

    phpinfo

    I understand what to do with normal post pages etc

    please can you advise me on this – i can send a screenshot?

    Please note that we only report the 404s. We do not have information on how or why they are generated. You can get further insight into them by enabling the advanced monitor: https://rankmath.com/kb/monitor-404-errors/#advanced-404-monitor

    That will give you more information like referrer and user-agent. You can use that information to track down the source or find out if it is just bots generating those errors.

    You can fix these errors by redirecting them to a related page on your website:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/fix-404-errors/

    Or you can exclude the URLs from WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor: https://rankmath.com/kb/general-settings/#exclude-paths
