Indexing Errors Google

Hello! I am having issues getting my client’s website to index via Google Search Console and was wondering if you could please help. I keep getting the error ‘noindex’ detected in ‘robots’ meta tag.

I am trying to narrow down the issue, starting with Rank Math. I noticed that my API is giving me a 404 error, I tried updating the key and clearing my browser cache and it did not work, not sure if this would be why it won’t index. (https://chairezlandscape.com/abad99aa89f6419d9d83fc73446bb99f.txt)

    The robots.txt is…

    “User-agent: *
    Disallow: /wp-admin/
    Allow: /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php

    Sitemap: http://chairezlandscape.com/sitemap_index.xml”

Not sure if it matters, but originally Yoast SEO had been installed. I briefly used it before switching to Rank Math and removing Yoast SEO plugin.

I already went into my themes header.php and there was no ‘noindex’ code or any mention of robot.txt. I also checked in Rank Math’s settings and I have Robots Meta set to ‘Index’ and in WordPress’s Reading settings, I have “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” unchecked.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Not sure if you can see on your end what the issue may be.

  • Hello! I apologize for the issue you are facing with indexing your client’s website on Google Search Console. Thank you for providing detailed information about the problem.

To address the ‘noindex’ detected in the ‘robots’ meta tag error, let’s troubleshoot the possible causes step by step:

    1. API Key Issue: The 404 error you mentioned with the API key could potentially affect indexing. However, this error is usually related to Rank Math’s API connection and not directly linked to the indexing issue. I recommend checking your Rank Math settings to ensure the API key is correctly entered.

    2. Robots.txt File: Your robots.txt file seems correctly configured to allow crawling and indexing of your site’s content. The presence of the sitemap reference is also good practice.

    3. Previous Yoast SEO Usage: Transitioning from Yoast SEO to Rank Math should not cause indexing issues if the transition was smooth and all settings were properly adjusted.

    4. Noindex Code Check: It’s great that you checked your theme’s header.php file and found no ‘noindex’ code. Since Rank Math’s Robots Meta is set to ‘Index,’ this setting should allow search engines to index your content.

Given the information provided, it seems like the technical aspects related to Rank Math and your site’s settings are correctly configured for indexing.

To further investigate and resolve the ‘noindex’ issue, I recommend checking individual pages/posts using Rank Math’s Metabox to ensure they are set to ‘Index.’ You can follow the steps outlined in this guide to verify and adjust the indexing settings for each page.

If the issue persists or if you need further assistance, please reply here, and a human agent from our support team will assist you promptly. Thank you for reaching out, and we appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this matter for you.

    Hello,

I keep getting the error ‘noindex’ detected in ‘robots’ meta tag.

Please share the affected URL/s from that error message so we can verify their robots meta tag.

I noticed that my API is giving me a 404 error, I tried updating the key and clearing my browser cache and it did not work, not sure if this would be why it won’t index.

The API txt URL is used for Bing and Yandex search engines. To fix the issue, you may follow the steps in this link to manually create the txt file:
