Meta tag Noindex bug with RankMath

    Hey there,

It seems your plugin is making my site buggy. For the past two months, I’ve been struggling with a “Noindex” meta tag appearing in 103 of my posts, according to my Google Search Console. That’s a lot. Google hasn’t been able to crawl through since then.

During this time, I’ve followed all the videos you’ve posted on this issue, and I haven’t found anything wrong on my end.

The RankMath plugin reports that all my posts are set to “Index” (I’ve checked with filters and other methods). However, the “Index Status” tab of RankMath simultaneously indicates that a meta tag is blocking indexation.

So, all my posts are indexed, and there’s no issue on my end according to RankMath. But, at the same time, RankMath’s “Index Status” says no, and the same goes for Google.

When I inspected the code, I noticed that your plugin’s lines indicate:

    <div class=”ab-sub-wrapper”><ul id=’wp-admin-bar-rank-math-mark-me-default’ class=”ab-submenu”><li id=’wp-admin-bar-rank-math-pillar-content’ class=”mark-page-as”>En tant que contenu essentiel<li id=’wp-admin-bar-rank-math-no-index’ class=”mark-page-as”>Comme NoIndex<li id=’wp-admin-bar-rank-math-no-follow’ class=”mark-page-as”>Comme NoFollow</div><li id=’wp-admin-bar-rank-math-third-party’ class=”menupop”>

But I can’t take any action on it.

Example of a buggy post: https://banques-infos-recours.fr/liquidation-et-si-votre-banque-etait-responsable

    Could you please help?

    Thanks,

    Kevin Madegard

  • Hello,

I apologize for the issue you are facing with the “Noindex” meta tag appearing on your posts and causing indexing problems on your site. Thank you for providing detailed information about the problem you are experiencing.

Based on the information you shared, it seems like there might be a conflict between the Rank Math plugin settings and the actual meta tags being generated on your posts. To resolve this issue, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Rank Math Metabox Settings:

      • Open the post/page in the WordPress Editor.
      • Look for the Rank Math Metabox settings. In Gutenberg Editor, click the Rank Math SEO icon in the top-right corner of the page.
      • Ensure that the Robots Meta is set to Index. If it is set to No Index, change it to Index and update the post.

    2. Verify Advanced Mode:

      • If you cannot find the Advanced Tab in Rank Math, make sure you have switched to the Advanced Mode. You can enable this mode from Rank Math SEO → Dashboard.

    3. Inspect Meta Tags:

      • Check the generated meta tags on your posts to ensure that the correct settings are applied.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

    Best regards.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

We checked the page you’ve shared and we can see it is already set to index:

If you’re still facing the issue on Google Search Console, please try to clear your website cache including any server-level cache, and revalidate the issues. Once done, give Google some time to recrawl your site.

Regarding the <li id=”wp-admin-bar-rank-math-no-index” class=”mark-page-as”>, it is a pretty common mistake to open the page source and search for a Noindex tag to see if the page is marked as Noindex or not.

Rank Math offers a No Index and No Follow option in the admin menu bar, which could show up in the page’s source code when logged in.

The actual Noindex tag will be added like this: <meta robots="noindex">

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Thank you for your response.

As my issue has been ongoing for two months, I have already tried the cache issue option. I attempted it three times with Google Console, and received three negative outcomes.

And yes, just like you, when I inspect the page I showed you, I see “index” from RankMath SEO on the begining.

However, in the RankMath SEO statistics tab, it shows “Blocked by meta tag”. Same for Google. Where is this thing ? Does Google misunderstanding the RankMath code you share with me because inside we can read “Noindex” ?

    Any idea ? I am lost…

    Hello,

We’ve checked the page and the meta robots is already set to index. Also, it is already added to your sitemap and your robots.txt is fine.

In this case, please clear your website’s cache and revalidate the issue in your Google Search Console account and give Google some time to recrawl your site.

    validate

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

I am also having this issue. I also can’t use the instant indexing feature. Everything I submit a page I get a Error submitting page to IndexNow. Honestly switched from YOAST to RankMath and regretting my decision at this point. It’s caused me a ton of rework and headaches with my website.

Plus I have a massive backlog of 403 errors in my history: 403 Forbidden The key was invalid (e.g. key not found, file found but key not in the file).

Wow… that’s more issue than mine haha

And after empty my cache, like I already did, and reload Google crawling, I still have my noindex issue.

Yeah, it’s terrible. I updated my key, added it to my php file, and it worked with a bulk submit instant index and then today when I got on it just stopped working again, nothing has changed.
