  • Hello,

I apologize for the issue you are facing with the Current Year variable not reflecting on Google search results.

Based on the screenshots you provided, it seems like you have correctly set up the Current Year variable in Rank Math. However, Google may not always display the meta information exactly as you have configured it due to various reasons.

To ensure that Google picks up the changes you made, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Google Cache Date: Verify when Google last crawled and indexed your page by checking the cache date. Here’s how you can do it:
      Check the Google Cache
After clicking on the small arrow next to the domain, click on Cached to see the cache date.

    2. Wait for Re-crawling: If the cache date is before you added the new meta description, you need to wait for Google to re-crawl and re-index your page with the updated information.

    3. Google’s Autonomy: Keep in mind that Google may choose to display a different meta title/description based on search intent, even if you have set up variables like the Current Year.

If after following these steps, the issue persists, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your patience.

We’ve checked the page, and Rank Math’s meta description is already set to 2024.

However, you have multiple meta and Opengraph tags that could confuse search engines and social apps regarding which information to display: https://i.rankmath.com/i/vQeYnK

The 2nd box you see in the screenshot is data added by Rank Math. However, the 1st box could be added by one of your plugins or active theme.

Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), to determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

Once you have removed the duplicate meta tags, you should clear your website’s cache and give Google some time to crawl your URLs to update the search results page.

    Hope that helps.
