Wrong Metadata for Website Home Page (Can’t Disable)

I submitted an inquiry with your chatbot regarding a metadata issue I’m having. When I share my URL there is something in my metadata that is treating my home page like a blog post by showing a “written by” and a “time to read” – I have looked everywhere to find the metadata causing this to turn off but can’t locate it.

The chatbot walked me through the steps to turn this off in the Titles & Meta “Homepage” section, however there’s nothing there for me to toggle or edit. It just says “Static page is set as the front page (WP Dashboard > Settings > Reading). To add SEO title, description, and meta for the homepage, please click here:”

When I went back to the chatbot it gave me another alternative by editing the page (which also doesn’t exist), and finally said “Based on the provided context, there are no specific settings in Rank Math to remove “written by” and “time to read” from the homepage. If you have further questions or need assistance with other Rank Math features, feel free to ask!”

So my question is how do I remove this? My home page isn’t a blog post.

If it’s not possible I will need to delete the plugin.

  • Hello, I apologize for the inconvenience you’re experiencing with the metadata on your homepage. It seems that you’re unable to find the option to disable the “written by” and “time to read” metadata on your homepage.

To address this issue, we recommend checking if the advanced mode is enabled in your Rank Math plugin. If it is, you should be able to configure the Titles & Meta settings for your homepage directly through the Rank Math MetaBox available in the Editor. You can refer to our detailed guide on Homepage Titles & Meta settings for more information.

If you’re still unable to resolve this issue, please click the button below to assign this ticket to a human agent, and we will provide you with more specific guidance based on your website’s configuration. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Second issue is the Title and Description I updated in the Preview Snippet Editor doesn’t change anything when I share the link either. No idea why.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that this issue might have caused.

You can remove those tags by disabling the “Slack Enhanced Sharing” option under Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Posts.

Here’s a guide with more details about Slack Enhanced Sharing:

    2.

For the issue you described of changes to your metadata not being reflected please check if you are using a Firewall as it may prevent saving the changes.

If you are using a Firewall, please whitelist this route:

    /wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateMeta
You can check this link for more information:

Let us know how this goes.

    Thanks.

Thanks for your help – I found the Slack enhanced sharing and toggled off.

It would be nice to have this for blog posts. Is there a reason why it would show for the home page though which isn’t a “post”?

Just did a test to see if it was removed and it’s still showing the time to read and author.

Actually I see this toggle everywhere – pages, posts, post formats, etc.

I’m toggling them all off but nothing is removing.

    Hello,

In this case, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

Yeah I’d prefer to not do that. If you can’t troubleshoot it without accessing my site then I’ll just delete and use another SEO tool.

    Hello,

In this case, please share your website URL with us so we can help take a look. If you’re concerned about privacy, you can share the URL via the sensitive data section.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. We are looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Hello,
