Hello,
Please help. I asked the support robot what i need to do after switching from yoast to rankmath and this is what it said:
Schema Markup Removal: If you migrate to Rank Math from Yoast, you’ll miss the Schema Markup feature offered by Rank Math, which helps in ranking higher and making your website SEO-friendly.
Redirections: Redirections set up in Yoast will not be ported over to Rank Math, and this could result in losing important search engine rankings for your website.
Manual Configuration: You’ll have to manually configure settings like Sitemap settings, Image SEO, etc., inside Rank Math, as these settings will not be imported from Yoast.
I’m just confused because I thought Rankmath imported re-directs?
I am trying to figure out what I need to do after switching from Yoast to Rankmath. I dont want my SEO to be effected. I thought Rankmath imported everything. Is this not the case?
Thanks,
-
Hello,
I’m sorry for the confusion. I understand that you’re concerned about migrating from Yoast to Rank Math and want to ensure that your SEO is not affected.
When migrating from Yoast to Rank Math, there are a few things to consider:
-
Schema Markup Removal: If you migrate to Rank Math from Yoast, you’ll miss the Schema Markup feature offered by Rank Math, which helps in ranking higher and making your website SEO-friendly.
-
Redirections: Redirections set up in Yoast will not be ported over to Rank Math, and this could result in losing important search engine rankings for your website.
-
Manual Configuration: You’ll have to manually configure settings like Sitemap settings, Image SEO, etc., inside Rank Math, as these settings will not be imported from Yoast.
While Rank Math does import some settings from Yoast, such as SEO titles, descriptions, and key phrases, it does not import everything, including redirections.
If you have specific redirections set up in Yoast that you want to preserve, you may need to manually recreate them in Rank Math to ensure that your search engine rankings are not affected.
If you have any further questions or need assistance with the migration process, please feel free to reach out to our support team directly from here.
Thank you for reaching out!

Hello,
Apologies for the confusion.
If you have redirections from Yoast (Premium), then they should be imported as well
Everything mentioned in the checkbox should be ported once you have migrated from Yoast to Rank Math:
https://rankmath.com/kb/yoast-seo-migration/Hope that helps.
Thanks.
Is there anything you can think of that doesnt get imported from Yoast?
Do the “featured images” get imported?
I just want to know what to be prepared for.
Thanks,
Josh
Switching from Yoast to Rank Math involves a few manual steps to ensure a smooth transition and preserve your SEO efforts. While Rank Math offers an import feature for some settings, there are certain elements that might require manual configuration. Here’s a breakdown:
1. **Schema Markup:** Rank Math provides Schema Markup, but after migration, you might need to review and configure the specific schema types you had in Yoast for better optimization.
2. **Redirections:** Generally, Rank Math does import redirections, but it’s recommended to double-check the imported redirects to ensure they transferred correctly. Some users might face issues during migration, so it’s good to verify.
3. **Manual Configuration:** Certain settings like sitemap preferences, image SEO settings, and other detailed configurations might need manual adjustments post-migration. This ensures these settings align with your website’s specific requirements.
If you’ve already migrated and have concerns about missing redirects or other settings, I’d recommend:
– Check the redirections section in Rank Math to see if the redirects from Yoast have been successfully imported.
– Verify your sitemap settings and other SEO configurations within Rank Math to ensure they align with your previous settings in Yoast.
– Reach out to Rank Math’s support or community forums for assistance if certain settings haven’t been ported correctly or if you need guidance on manual configurations.SEO transitions like this can be complex, and it’s essential to cross-check critical settings to avoid any negative impact on your website’s SEO.
I havent switched yet because I am worried about having something mess up.
Can I try making this switch on my Staging Site?
And then sync my staging site to production site?
Will things work that way?
Hello,
Thank you for your patience.
The featured images on your posts/pages are still the same. Your media are saved in your WordPress, so they are not affected by the transition.
Yes, you can try the import process on your staging site first, then push it to your production site.
In that way, you can ensure that your metadata and SEO settings are imported successfully.
Hope that helps.
Can you please tell me,
Do I have to re-submit my sitemaps to google search console after I make the switch to Rankmath?
Hello,
Yes, you can resubmit your sitemap to Google after switching Rank Math from Yoast.
With the sitemap, you do not have to do anything. During the migration process, Rank Math will import your existing settings from Yoast, including your sitemap settings. This means that your sitemap will continue to function as before, but will now be managed by Rank Math.
However, if you see any physical XML files on your website’s root directory, you will need to delete those.
Lastly, clear your website caches after setting up Rank Math.
You can follow our guide here to migrate from Yoast to Rank Math: https://rankmath.com/kb/yoast-seo-migration/
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need my assistance with anything else.
I have a few pages I am having trouble indexing with Yoast sitemaps. Will switching to Rankmath help me?
Hello,
Please note that a sitemap is only one of many ways Google discovers the URLs of your site.
For issues with indexing of your pages, please check your Google Search Console coverage section to determine any issues reported on your site: https://support.artlogic.net/hc/en-gb/articles/360016851260-Google-Search-Console-errors-and-coverage-issues and share the screenshot here using this tool.
You can also request the indexing of your pages by passing it through the URL Inspection Tool and request it there: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/crawling-indexing/ask-google-to-recrawl. The tool will also let you know if there are any issues on the URL that prevent them from getting indexed.
Hope this helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.
Thank you.
I currently have 25 not-indexed pages. But most of them are re-directs.
I have 3 pages that are “discovered-currently not indexed”, and they are the pages I want indexed.
I have tried being patient. The content is good. Page speed good. The pages contain rich results.
There are no errors. I cant find a good reason why these pages arent indexed. I have tried reading countless seo help pages, forums, tech help, google help, yoast help. I’ve watched youtubes. Ive done a SEO course. I have cleared my cache multiple times. I have requested google to re-crawl the pages multiple times. I have countless hours into this problem. Nothing is helping me solve this problem.I am some what worried about my crawl budget. I have 6 pages that are crawled-not indexed. And these pages are not important. I do not want them indexed. I recently added 410 redirect to the pages I wanted to remove, but they still show on my Google search console.
Is this the reason I have pages stuck in the discovered-currently not indexed category?
I do not understand how to share images on that link you have sent.
Thanks for any insights to this problem I having.
Hello,
We checked your website and looks like you’re currently using the Yoast SEO plugin. However, please note that the “Discovered – currently not indexed” message means that Google has found the URLs but has not yet decided whether to index them. You can follow the URL that explains this in detail: https://rankmath.com/kb/discovered-currently-not-indexed/
Regarding the deleted pages, we can see the 410 redirection is already working properly:
In this case, please allow Google some time to recrawl your pages and they will be automatically removed from your GSC.
Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.
