    Rank Math free

I am using your plugin for doing SEO in my new website homeindepth.com including the meta description. I only have 3 posts till now. But google search results are showing totally different meta description from the one which I have entered in the meta description box of the edit snippet section of rankmath for all my 3 posts. This is inspite of the fact that my rankmath meta description is within the stipulated word limit and meets the search intent of of my keyword.

Please suggest what can I do to correct this.

  • Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing this issue with your meta descriptions not showing up correctly in Google search results. It can be frustrating when the meta descriptions you’ve set are not reflected in the search results.

It’s important to ensure that the meta descriptions you’ve set using Rank Math are within the word limit and meet the search intent of your keywords, as you’ve mentioned. However, even if everything is set correctly, Google might still choose to display a different meta description based on various factors.

To address this issue, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check What You Have Set Using Rank Math: Ensure that you have correctly set the meta descriptions using Rank Math. You can refer to this guide for instructions on how to do so: Editing Meta Title and Description using Classic Editor and Editing Meta Title and Description in Gutenberg.

    2. Ensure Your Schema Settings Are Valid: Valid schema settings can help Google understand your content better and may influence the display of meta descriptions.

    3. Check the Title/Description Set in the Page’s Source Code: Verify that the meta descriptions you’ve set are reflected in the source code of your pages.

    4. Check Google’s Cache: Check when Google’s cache was last updated for the page to see if it has picked up on the changes.

    5. Understand Why Google Might Choose Not to Use Your Meta Description: Google might choose not to use your meta description for various reasons, such as relevance, quality, or matching user search intent.

If after following these steps, the issue persists, please feel free to reach out to our support team for further assistance. We’re here to help.

I hope this information helps! If you have any more questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask.

    Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

It is a pretty common thing with Google these days. It happens with 70% of the results and we even have a KB dedicated to this problem and a few solutions we recommend:

    https://rankmath.com/kb/different-meta-title-and-description/

Please check the KB and you will understand the reasons Google does this.

Google has made some changes to their algorithm which automatically changes the titles, discarding the one you have set in your SEO title meta tag. This happens regardless of the SEO plugin you are using. We have covered this Google update here:

    https://rankmath.com/google-update/google-title-rewrite-update/

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
