Hi, i have rankmath on my website. Would it be possible to use permalink structure /category/blogpost/ for a few of my categories and my blog category use only /blogpost/?

Hello, I apologize for the inconvenience. Yes, it is possible to use a custom permalink structure for your categories and blog posts using Rank Math. You can change your website’s permalink structure in WordPress by going to Settings → Permalinks and clicking on the radio button next to the Custom Structure. Then, you can select from the available tags and click on Save Changes.
Additionally, you can also change the URL slug for an individual post/page in WordPress by editing the post and changing the end of the URL.
If you need further assistance with setting up custom permalinks for your categories and blog posts, please feel free to reach out to our dedicated support team here. They are available 24/7, 365 days a year.

WordPress Permalink Structure & Changing Individual URLs » Rank MathHello,
The category will be included if you have set your permalinks to have that custom structure on your WordPress dashboard > Settings > Permalinks.
Unfortunately, Rank Math currently doesn’t support modifying the permalinks of your blog posts specifically.
In this case, you may have to use a permalink manager plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/permalink-manager/ to change the permalink structure of some of your blog posts.
Hope that helps.
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Before I am going to change all my permalink structure and redirect it using RankMath, can you then help me with a few questions?I want to create my link structure like this website: http://www.omregneren.dk
Their structure is like http://www.omregneren.dk/category/post-name I guess – isnt that correct?
But they also have a page when i click on the parent category, like Temperatur – how do i do that, since i cant make a page or post on a category?Best,
MathiasHello,
From the site you have shared, they are using pages and not the normal blog post.
For example, there is a page Temperatur (not a category page). That is the parent page and the other sub-pages appearing below it are child pages like /temperatur/fahrenheit-til-kelvin/.
You can also confirm that in their /page-sitemap.xml where all the pages and child pages are included.
Hope that helps.
Hi Reinell,
So they Are only using blog posts under “artikler” and eveything else is Pages?
When i check their sitemap they only have 3 posts. https://omregneren.dk/post-sitemap.xml
Any reason why using Pages instead of blogposts?
And following to my reply above, if i create the same permalink structure as omregneren.dk
– i change all the posts to Pages that i want to change.
– how should the permalink structure be, if it should be the same as theirs?
– and finally redirect the old url to the new one with RankMath?Hello,
Thank you for your patience.
Unfortunately, we’re not sure of their intention of using that structure on their site, but
The default post/blogpost type is much more reliable since you can organize them through various categories and tags, which should help with your internal linking for SEO.
You may also check this article for their difference:
https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/what-is-the-difference-between-posts-vs-pages-in-wordpress/If you’re going to copy/follow that website’s structure then you may need to do the things you have listed above.
The permalink won’t affect your normal pages as it only applies to your blog post. Then you can setup the redirect from the old URLs in Rank Math to your new URLs.
Hope that helps.
Hi Reinelle,
Thanks for your reply.
I have tried changing 1 post to a page. changed this post http://www.omregner.net/lommeregner to a page url http://www.omregner.net/online-lommeregnerI used RankMath to redirect the post to the page, and drafted the post, when i published the page.
Should I do anything else – canonical tag with RankMath since it is duplicated content? The page havent been indexed yet, even after 24 hours – normally my posts are getting indexed after a few hours.
I have used RankMath’s instant indexing and manually applied for index on GSC – but so far, nothing have happend. Is this the correct way to do it or do you have any suggestions?
I just tried to check the source of the page, which have this noindex. Dont think it matters, since it also is on my other posts which is indexed fine by google, and as well on another site i have.
href=’#pillar_content’>As Pillar Content<li id=’wp-admin-bar-rank-math-no-index’ class=”mark-page-as”>As NoIndex<li id=’wp-admin-bar-rank-math-no-follow’ class=”mark-page-as”>As NoFollow</div><li id=’wp-admin-bar-rank-math-third-party’
It is actually ALL my pages that are missing in google search, homepage, author etc.
I just tried making a blog post (I still want a blog menu on the website) and that was indexed within a few hours, so its not because google wont crawl my website.Hello,
Apologies for the delay as we currently have a high volume of tickets here in our support forums.
There’s no need to change the canonical since you have already redirected the post URL. The page URL should have a self-referencing canonical URL so it will be included in the sitemap and get indexed.
Also, the code you have shared above is for the Rank Math menu button for noindex.
Please note that the actual noindex tag is added like this:
<meta robots="noindex">
If the new page is not yet index, we recommend inspecting it on your Google Search Console account to know its status:

Thank you.
