  • Hello, we apologize for the inconvenience you’re experiencing with editing your robots.txt file. There are a few common reasons why you may not be able to edit your robots.txt file using Rank Math.

One common reason is the presence of a physical robots.txt file in the root folder of your website. If there is an actual robots.txt file in the root folder, you may not be able to edit it with Rank Math. You can remove this file via FTP or cPanel File Manager and then try to edit the robots.txt file via Rank Math.

Another reason could be that another plugin is creating the robots.txt file, preventing you from editing it with Rank Math. In this case, you can find and disable the plugin that is creating the file to resolve the issue.

If there are permission issues on the web server, you need to contact your web host for further assistance.

If you encounter a “robots.txt file is not writable” error message, you can add a filter to your site to allow Rank Math to edit your robots.txt file. You can refer to this guide on adding filters to your site: Adding Filters to Your Site.

We hope this information helps you resolve the issue. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to ask.
