I don’t know what I did to cause this, and I don’t know how to fix it. The attached images show what I get when I try to edit a WordPress page;
RankMath seemed much better than my experience with Yoast until this happened. This is my first attempt at using RankMath. My setup:
Windows 11
WordPress 6.4.1
Twenty Twenty Three (theme)
My URL: agencybusys.comIs there a way to undo this, or do I need to restore a backup and start over? If i were to do that, how can I prevent this from happening again. Do you know what causes this? Bug?

Hello,
I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing issues with editing a WordPress page after installing and setting up Rank Math. I understand that this is time-critical, and I appreciate your concern.
The issue you’re facing might be related to the Rank Math plugin, but it’s difficult to determine the exact cause without further investigation. It’s unlikely that this is a bug, but it could be a conflict with your theme or another plugin.
To troubleshoot this issue, I recommend performing a quick conflict check on your website using the Health Check and Troubleshooting plugin. This will help identify if the issue is caused by a conflict with another plugin or your theme.
Here are the steps to perform a conflict check using the Health Check and Troubleshooting plugin:
- Log in to your WordPress Administrator account and navigate to the dashboard.
- Go to Plugins in the WordPress menu and then click on Add New.
- Search for “Health Check” in the search bar and click Install Now on the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
- Activate the Health Check plugin.
- On the WordPress Menu in your left, hover over Tools and click on the Site Health option.
If you find that the issue persists even after performing the conflict check, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue for you.

I guess I expected you to have run into this before, and therefore be able to offer more assistance. Do you think this could be solved by restoring to a backup I made with UpdraftPlus just prior to installing Rank Math? This is urgent and I need a quick resolution. I can’t edit my website and we are in the midst of a major software release. Our users download the update from our website, which can’t be edited until this is fixed. BTY, it was fine up until I installed Rank Math.

I find in very frustrating when you tell me what to do without telling me how to do it. So far your help has not been helpful. I have been slow responding because I’ve been extremely busy providing phone support to my customers as a result of not being able to fix whatever your plug-in did to WordPress. Remember, everything was working fine until I installed Rank Math.
Please tell me if you have washed your hands of this, and left me on my own to resolve your problem. Again, this is URGENT.
Since your assistance is not helping, and I’m sure you want to help, I think a little more information might help you help me.
I am a self-employed computer programmer, not a web developer. This is only the second time I have used WordPress in my entire life, and the first time was over eight years ago. When you tell me to do something, please do it like you are talking to a complete novice because I am. Telling me to do something that is completely foreign to me does not help. That’s especially true when I’m asked to edit a PHP program. I’m a pascal programmer, and know nothing about PHP. I know enough to know how easy it is for one wrong line of code to make a program do very bad things.I hope this helps. Oh, by the way, you don’t need to include polite phrases and social graces in your responses. They are a waste of your time and mine. I’m only interested in a fix, or direct answers to my questions, if at all possible.
Hello,
Please get in touch with your site’s hosting provider and ask them to increase the PHP values. These are the recommended values:
PHP Memory Limit: 512M Max input time: 150 PHP time limit: 120 PHP max input variables: 1000
If the issue persists even after that, please share the login details of your site in the sensitive data section of this ticket so we can check and assist you further.
Looking forward to helping you.
After researching other forums it seems the symptoms I was having are not unique to a Rank Math installation. Based on the experience of others, I installed “Enable JQuery Migrate Helper”. That put the editor back to normal. Because that plugin compensates for plug-ins that are using “old code”, it would seem that your plugin, or perhaps someone else’s, is running code that needs to be updated. I have no way to know if it is yours or not because I have automatic updates turned on. It may be a coincidence that the problem started immediately after installing Rank Math SEO. The interesting part is that the reported problem persisted even after all plug-ins were deactivated, including Rank Math SEO.
The documentation on “Enable JQuery Migrate Helper” makes it clear that it is not to be considered a permanent fix. It is only intended to give plug-in developers enough time to migrate to more current code. I’m not a JQuery or PHP programmer, so I don’t know what they mean by “old code”. I am sure that this should be considered a temporary fix since some plug-ins may rely on capabilities that are only available in “new code”. Based on that, I’m not marking this as resolved even though I can now edit pages again. If you want to mark it as resolved, that’s your call.
I hope this helps you, and others who might encounter this.
Hello,
Thank you for providing detailed information about the steps you took to address the issue and sharing your findings. We appreciate your efforts in troubleshooting the problem on your own.
It’s unfortunate that you experienced difficulties with the editor after installing Rank Math SEO. We take your feedback seriously, and we’re sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Your experience is valuable in helping us improve our product and provide better support.
Some areas worthy of note in this regard are to:
– Ensure all plugins and themes are updated to the latest version. The latest version of Rank Math SEO free is v1.0.206: https://rankmath.com/changelog/free/
– Confirm and ensure the PHP version running on your site is upgraded to at least PHP 8.0 because anything below that has reached its end of life: https://www.php.net/supported-versions.php.
You can follow this guideline to upgrade your PHP version: https://rankmath.com/kb/this-plugin-does-not-work-with-your-version-of-php/#how-to-upgrade-php-version
Alternatively, you can ask your host to do the upgrade for you.
– Just as my colleague recommended you can try to confirm that the PHP resources are not less than the values stated and if they are you can contact your host to increase them.
You can follow this guide on how to get all those details: https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-quickly-get-system-information-for-your-wordpress-site/
If you encounter any further issues or have additional questions in the future, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to assist you.
Thank you for your understanding, and we hope you have a smoother experience with your WordPress site moving forward.
