I encountered an issue in the Search Console while attempting to submit our sitemap, and the error message displayed was “Sitemap could not be read.” This is how my sitemap is showing>>https://prnt.sc/1_1HhJLdUdiV
The issue I mentioned is consistent across four of my websites (temporary logins in sensitive area), and I’ve already ruled out any plugin or theme conflicts.
Given the complexity of the task, I would greatly appreciate it if a member of the Rank Math team could assist in resolving this issue directly. Your expertise would be invaluable in ensuring that our sitemaps function correctly.

Thank you for being so understanding, and I look forward to your assistance.

    Best regards,
    Isdor

  • Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

Can you please confirm if you have followed all the steps from this guide to address that issue? https://rankmath.com/kb/fix-sitemap-issues/#xml-text-declaration

Checking all your sitemaps, they seem to have different issues on their own, and two of them work just fine.

Please see the video screencast in the sensitive data section.

Now, addressing the two websites with their issues:

    2. Ediitory – It appears that you have another sitemap plugin that is running on your website. Please try disabling that to avoid further conflict with ours: Rank Math support

If that doesn’t work, please share this website’s FTP login so we can take a closer look and debug further.

    4. Isdortech – Please check for any physical XML file in this website’s root directory and delete it.

If that doesn’t help, please also share this website’s FTP login.

Looking forward to helping you with this one.

I did what you recommended for Ediitory and Isdortech but still the problem exists. I have shared ftp logins on the sensitive area

    Hello,

We’ve checked your Ediitory and Isdortech websites again and we can see they are currently working properly without any issue. Please check the screenshots in the sensitive data section for your reference.

However, if you’re still facing the issue, please try to clear your browser cache and check again.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

Thanks, they are now working. But just one question, despite the sitemaps listing all the pages on my websites, why do I have a few pages being discovered in the search console?

    Hello,

The zero or low discovered pages does not mean that Google is ignoring your sitemap or that your pages are not being indexed. It simply means that Google has already found your pages from another source, such as a link from another site or a social media post. Your sitemap is just one of the ways that Google can discover your pages, but it is not the only one. As long as your pages are being indexed, you don’t need to worry about how they are discovered. Your sitemap is still useful because it helps Google find your new or updated content faster.

You can read more about this issue here: https://rankmath.com/kb/zero-discovered-urls-through-sitemap/

We hope this helps you understand the issue better. If you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know.

Thank you for choosing Rank Math.
