Visible Plugins – SEO Analysis

    Hello, I am in the process of optimizing the pages. Internal RM SEO Analysis tool gives me 82 Score. Report says 3 plugins from your website are publicly visible. I have gone through the FAQs and the discussion threads on RM; still haven’t found solution to hide them. Plugins are:

    Ajax Search Lite
    Autoptimize
    Ax Scrollto Top

    I also have contacted the plugin authors regarding vulnerability, but they are not sure if this is true.

    I can remove Ajax Search Lite and Ax Scrollto Top, but removing Autoptimize hurts as I am in love with this plugin.

    I have checked my website on https://whatwpthemeisthat.com/, but it doesn’t detect any of my themes or plugins.

    Any suggestions on the above issue would be highly appreciated.

    I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    I also would like to update you that, I have installed Hide My WP Ghost – Security Plugin to hide the plugins. This has temporarily resolved the issue of ‘visible plugins’.

    More than a real issue, it is just a warning in our SEO tool. Keep in mind that when a tool is able to find which plugins you have in your website, a hacker would also be able to and if that plugin has some vulnerability, your website could be compromised.

    Usually, it is very easy to detect plugins in your website, you just need to query URLs like wp-content to look for known plugin paths and if they exist, the plugin is installed in your site.

    A common way to hide them is by changing the URLs in WordPress, just like the plugin you have installed does. In fact, it was the suggestion I was going to give you, to install that plugin (or some similar).
