Alt text images not recognised

    Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to you about my [moved to sensitive data section] site.  The particular page is Top 10 best-selling perfumes in the UK for women in 2023 | Perfume Hub UK (perfume-hub.co.uk).  The page is published, but isn’t live.  This is because  as I am not ready to share the site with the public yet. I have three images on the page with alt text but Rank Math isn’t recognising them. I am using Elementor.  Please can you advise why it isn’t recognising? I can make the site temporarily live if needed.

    Regards,
    Sarah Walsh

  • Hello,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Can you please confirm if the issue is related to the SEO Analyzer or Content Analysis test where our plugin checks for the focus keyword in the ALT text of the image? You can also share a screenshot of the issue using a tool like https://imgur.com/

If the issue is related to the content analysis test, please share the focus keyword you are using on the page and make the page live so we can check it further.

    Looking forward to helping you.

Hi, I am not sure whether it is the SEO Analyser or the test and it won’t let me post a screenshot in here. II get the results from hitting ‘Edit Page’ in WordPress and then in the top right corner selecting the red Rank Math block with a score out of 100, which is next to the green Content AI block.

Can you tell whether it is the SEO Analyser or not from my description above?

    Thanks,
    Sarah

    Hello,

So it does look like you’re referring to the Content Analysis. Thank you for the description.

However, we may need to take a look at the page to confirm if the Alt texts are not being read on the front end.

So in this case (since the page with issue is still in draft mode), we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hi,

Please can you advise what FTP settings are and why they are needed? If Rank Math is a plugin within my WordPress site don’t you just need my WordPress login details?

    Thanks,
    Sarah

    Hello,

I do apologize for the confusion here. In this case, we do not need to access your FTP and will only need your WordPress logins so we can check the draft of the page.

But in case in the future, we may need to take a look at the FTP settings.

The term file transfer protocol (FTP) refers to a process that involves the transfer of files between devices over a network. The process works when one party allows another to send or receive files over the Internet. Originally used as a way for users to communicate and exchange information between two physical devices, it is now commonly used to store files in the cloud, which is usually a secure location that is held and accessed remotely.

If you’re unsure of your FTP credentials, please contact your hosting and they should be able to give it to you.

However, in this case, or ticket, we do not need this credential just yet. So your WordPress Login will do. Please don’t forget to put them in the Sensitive Data Section to make sure that no one else can see this but us.

We really look forward to hearing back from you. Thank you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Thank you kindly for the credentials.

It does look like the issue here is that there are no keywords on your Alt tags. Rank Math does indeed recognize the Alt tags being set on the image.

Also, please stay advised that these tests are just guidelines, and one does not need to follow them religiously.

At the end of the day, the content needs to be written for the readers and not for the search engines.

For more information and the tests I’ve done on the website, please refer to the Sensitive Area Section.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need my assistance with anything else.
