Multiple Category Causing More Than 1 Link (Duplicate)

Hi, my web permalink is using category and sometimes 1 post can have more than 1 category.

I just realized that I can access the post with another permalink category, so 1 post can have more than 1 link.

For example I have a post called “Post One” with 2 categories (Category 1 and Category 2), I can access all the following urls:
    – blog.com/category-2/post-one/
    – blog.com/category-2/post-one/

whereas it is the same 1 post.

Without setting canonical links, how can I keep the content from being duplicate? Is there a setting to fix this issue? Or autoredirection that I can use? Thanks

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Rank Math automatically adds a self-referential canonical tag to all pages by default – and technically both category versions of the post you mentioned are still the same post. This means that all the category versions will automatically have a canonical tag that points to the main URL, hence you do not need to take any additional action as it’s all taken care of.

We hope this helps clarify. Thank you for choosing Rank Math!
