Schema Markup – Organiztion, About and Contact

    Hi there,

    Hope you’re well.

I’m trying to optimise my website’s SEO and after spending some time on your website looking for answers, I’m still unsure about the correct answer.

My company’s website is https://glush.agency/. So, on the LocalSEO options of the plugin I’ve put Organisation, and also added the About and Contact pages. This has been done a couple of months ago.

Today I went to SEMrush to start optimisation, and one of the things I’ve noticed on my home page was that the markup “Organization” was not being detected. If I go to the homepage’s backend, my current schema is “Article”, and apparently multiple schemas are only allowed in the Pro Version.

Question 1: Does my “Article” markup affect the “Organization” markup?
Question 2: What’s the best practice within RankMath for a homepage: to have the Organization markup only so there are no clashes?

On the About page I can see the correct markup has been applied “AboutPage”, but I also have the “Article” markup on the page backend.

Question 3: Would it be best practice to remove the “Article” markup and leave just the “AboutPage” that comes from the LocalSEO?

Lastly, the Contact page. The markup for the contact page should be ContactPage, and I would assume this would be added because I’ve specified on the LocalSEO page what was the contact page, just like what happened with the About page. Unfortunately, this is not happening.

Question 4: How can I add this to my contact page?

    Thank you in advance,
    Goncalo

  • Hello,

Thank you so much for getting in touch and bringing your concern to our attention.

    1. The Organization schema is automatically added by our plugin after you configure your Local SEO settings in Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Local SEO. We can confirm the Organization schema is already applied to your homepage:

    Rank Math support

    2. & 3. It’s perfectly fine to have the default Article schema and the default schemas we have added to your About page and homepage. This should not cause any issues in the search engines.

    4. The ContactPage is also automatically generated by our plugin once you have set a specific contact page in the Local SEO settings:

    contact

You can check that by navigating to Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Local SEO or you can check this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/local-seo/#contact-page

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need my assistance with anything else.

    Hi Jeremy,

    Thank you for your reply.

Question 1: I can see that part in my code, but Schema.org and other platforms like SEMrush do not detect it. See image regarding my website Glush vs a competitor. Their Organization markup is clearly detected.

Question 2 and 3: The about page, despite having been input on the LocalSEO section, only shows 1 markup. See image for reference. This brings me back to the original question: as I’m using the free version, is it overwriting the second markup? I don’t get it.

Question 4: On the other hand, I didn’t put any markup on the Contact page’s backend, just mentioned it on the LocalSEO. The result shows the correct markup. See image for your reference.

Overall I’m a bit lost and confused.

Also, as a suggestion to improve the UX, I believe within the WordPress dashboard it shouldn’t say “Schema: Off” but what has been assigned to it. In this image it should say ContactPage, as it has been assigned in the LocalSEO section.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thank you

    Hello,

    1. Please note that Rank Math sometimes generates the schema structure with other schema properties being nested. This is fine as long as the schema structure is validated in both schema.org and Google’s Rich Result Test.

You should see the Organization property has also been added here:

    Rank Math support

    2. & 3. Same as above, the aboutPage is currently nested to the article schema which is perfectly fine:

    Rank Math support

    4. This is quite expected as you don’t have a schema type individually added to the contact page (SEO Schema tab in the post editor) so Rank Math only has added the automatically generated contactPage schema which was configured on the Local SEO settings.

    5. The “Schema: Off” label only pertains to the individual schema that has been added to the post. Any automatically generated schema such as the WebPage, contactPage, Breadcrumbs, Sitelink Searchbox and etc. will not be counted there, only the dedicated schema type that has been assigned to that specific post/page.

    Hope this clarifies any doubts.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any other questions.
