Hi, I have seen the tutorial and video on the redirection features in RankMath plugin, but I still not sure why the pages are still just show “Page Not Found”.
I have also turned on the Redirection Debugger, but the interstitial doesn’t appear. So I think there is something wrong with the other settings. Yet I don’t know where to look at.
Please let me know if you have any clues.
Thank you.
Nora

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math support and we apologize for the inconvenience.
We need to check the details of your redirection settings to understand the issue better. Could you please show us a picture of the redirection you have created? To do that, please go to your redirection page and click on the one that you are having trouble with. Then, take a screenshot of the page and upload it to Imgur.com/upload. After that, please send us the link to your image so we can see it.
We appreciate your help and patience.
Hi there, here is the screenshot:https://imgur.com/a/oGwLkOn
I have tested that with 301, it’s working. But for 410, it seems like there is no redirections. I am deleting some very old posts and would like to redirect those URLs to the homepage.
Thank you.
NoraHello,
The URL status is already 410 upon checking using this tool: https://httpstatus.io/
Could you please confirm if you have set the Fallback Behavior to redirect on your homepage?
If the issue still persists, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/
You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/
We really look forward to helping you.
Thank you.
Hi there,
I do have already set the Fallback Behavior to redirect to the homepage. But for 410, it just stays on the same page.
I have already updated the info in the sensitive data section. Please have a look and see if you can log in.
Thank you so much for your help.
NoraHello,
Please note that the
410
setting doesn’t redirect you anywhere. Rank Math will just mark that page as410
.The
410
status code in SEO means “Gone.”, indicating that a web page or resource has been permanently removed from the server and is no longer accessible. When search engines encounter a410
status code, they understand that the page has been deliberately removed and update their index accordingly. It’s useful for informing search engines that a specific page should no longer be indexed and is considered gone.Removing or deactivating the redirection you have created will only then make the fallback work for that page.
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need my assistance with anything else.
Hi there,
I do understand 410 because I’ve done some searches before asking here. The reason I asked here because I thought it would still be able to redirect the deleted page to homepage (as the previous support staff suggested as well.)
Just want to clarify this: If a page is set to 410, it will not have any rediretion?
Thank you.
Hi there,
Thanks for your reply.
Just want to clarify this: If a page is set to 410, it will not have any redirection?
Yes. When you set a page to 410, it means you want to tell the search engines that the page is permanently gone and there is no other page that can replace it. So, the page will not redirect anywhere. Rank Math will just add the 410 code to your page so that the search engines know what to do.
But if you have another page that can replace the one that is gone, then you should use a different type of redirection, like 301 or 302, to send the visitors and the search engines to the new page. You can learn more about the different types of redirections and how to use them with Rank Math here: https://rankmath.com/kb/redirect-types/
We hope this clears up any confusion and helps you solve your issue. If you have any other questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us again. We’re always happy to help.
Thank you for choosing Rank Math!
