Sitemap suddenly disappeared on my site [orichimaru.com]. The Google Search Console is unable to fetch the sitemap. When searching the sitemap URL I am getting 404-Response. This is the sitemap URL provided to me by RANK MATH -> https://orichimaru.com/sitemap_index.xml

  • Hello,

Thank you for your query. We will be super-happy to help you with your concern.

Your sitemap is working, see screenshot: https://i.rankmath.com/i/X8KN3S

However if it was not working previously perhaps it was due to caching.
For the error “couldn’t fetch” in Search Console, please see this resource: https://rankmath.com/kb/couldnt-fetch-error-google-search-console/

We hope that helps and we are here should you have any follow-up questions.

Due to this google has deindexed my pages.

    Hello,

Please note that a sitemap is only one of the methods to tell Google to crawl your website content. Your sitemap issue should not deindex your pages from SERPs.

You can share some affected page URLs with us so that we can check the issue further for you.

Meanwhile, you can also check your Google Search Console coverage section to determine any issues reported on your site: https://support.artlogic.net/hc/en-gb/articles/360016851260-Google-Search-Console-errors-and-coverage-issues

You can share the error message or take a screenshot using this tool and add the link here so we can check as well.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hello @hanishkumar,

We can see that your sitemap is working properly on Google Search Console. However, the “no referring sitemap detected” means the page has been discovered by Google, and Google knows about it.

Please note that a sitemap is only one of many ways Google discovers the URLs of your site. If Google discovers the URL through other means, it may not cross-reference your sitemap to check if the URL is there. Hence the “No referring sitemaps” message.

Regarding the ranking on keywords, please note that ranking on Google depends on so much more than just your on-page optimization. Here are some reasons why your site might be experiencing a decline in ranking on Google.

    1. Seasonal Fluctuations: Certain industries or topics experience natural fluctuations in search volume throughout the year. If your website or content is related to a specific seasonal trend or event, it’s possible that the decline in ranking and impressions are due to a decrease in search interest during this period.

    2. Algorithm Updates: Google frequently updates its search algorithms, which can impact the visibility of websites in search results. If there have been recent algorithm changes, it’s possible that your website’s ranking has been affected, leading to a decline in impressions.

    3. Competitor Activity: Increased competition from other websites or changes in their SEO strategies can impact your ranking and impressions. If competitors are optimizing their content better or generating more relevant backlinks, it could lead to a decline in your own ranking and impressions.

To identify the specific reason for the decline in ranking and impressions, it’s essential to analyze your website’s performance, conduct a thorough review of your SEO strategy, and monitor changes in search trends and competitors.

You can use this guide to run an SEO audit on your site: https://rankmath.com/blog/seo-audit/

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

    Hello,
My Homepage is there in Posts and Pages both of the sections of Sitemap.

    Hello,

This is normal when you set the settings on WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Reading > Your homepage displays to Your latest posts. The sitemap should have chosen a static page but is showing the latest posts on that page. So the homepage is both a homepage (included in page-sitemap) and a posts page (included in post-sitemap). It’s fine and that shouldn’t affect your SEO.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.
