I am noticing that my impressions in the Google search console for the last four days got down to zero. First, it was getting around 300-400 days. I thought it might be due to Google’s new algorithm update but it also happened just after I update the default title from %title% %sep% %sitename% to only “title”. Now I changed it but still didn’t happen anything. I am messaging you this to confirm if it’s really because of this setting and if yes, how to revert the effect of it properly.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting us. We are sorry to hear that you have experienced a sudden drop in your search impressions.

We understand that you have changed your default title from %title% %sep% %sitename% to only %title%. While it is recommended to include your site name in your default title for branding purposes, we don’t think that this change alone could cause such a drastic reduction in your impressions.

It is possible that there is some delay or discrepancy in the data that we’re showing. To fix this, you can try refreshing your search console data by re-fetching it from Google. This will ensure that you have the most updated and accurate data for your site.

To refresh your search console data, please follow these steps carefully:

    • Go to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to Rank Math > Tools & Status > Database Tools. Here, you will see a button that says Rebuild Index. Click on this button and wait for a few seconds. This will clear the index of your analytics data and prepare it for the new data.
    • Next, go to Rank Math > General Settings > Analytics tab. Here, you will see a button that says Delete Data. Click on this button and confirm the action. This will delete all the existing analytics data from your website. Don’t worry, this will not affect your actual rankings or traffic.
    • After deleting the data, you will see another button that says Update Data Manually. Click on this button and wait for a few minutes. This will start fetching the new data from Google and importing it to your website.
    • You can reload the page to see the progress of the data import process. You will see a message that says “Data fetch complete” when the process is done.
    • Once the process is done, please check your search impressions again and see if the data is showing up correctly. You should see your updated impressions and other metrics for your site. If you’re still seeing the same old data (zero), please let us know.
    • We hope this helps you resolve the issue with your search impressions. Please let us know if this works for you or if you need any further assistance. We are always happy to help.

Thank you for choosing Rank Math.

      Best regards,

Thank you so much for helping me with it. Yes, times like this happens but a good support can relieve a little.

I did follow all the steps and I think everything in Rank Math is fine.

But I also want to share that first when I search my posts on Google, it’s showing but now they’re not available on Google too. Will it be possible to tell what it is or why it’s happening? Any possible reasons.

    Hi there,

We’re happy to know that you followed our steps and everything is working fine with Rank Math. You’re very welcome for the help. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

We’re also sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with your posts not showing up on Google. There could be many possible reasons for this. We would love to take a look at your website and see if we can find out what’s going on. Could you please share your website URL with us?

In the meantime, please make sure that you have not accidentally set your website and/or posts to noindex. This means that you have told Google not to index your pages, which will prevent them from showing up in the search results. To check this, please follow these steps:

    • Go to WordPress > Settings > Reading and make sure the option that says “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” is not checked.
    • Go to WordPress > Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Homepage and make sure your homepage is set to index.
    • If you’re using a static page as your homepage, you’ll need to make sure that the static page is also set to index. You can do this by editing the page and checking the index option in the Rank Math meta box.

We hope this helps you understand the issue better. If you need help with anything else, please let us know.

Thank you for choosing Rank Math.

I already checked these settings and everything is okay with Rank Math too. So I think I have to dig deeper to find what it is.

    Hello Reinelle,

Thanks for looking up for my website.

I checked this too. Almost all of my websites’ articles are showing up When I searched “site: my website” on Google.

My articles also shows up when I searched my “article’s title+site name” on Google.

    But I found two problems-

    1. Before that I used to search my target keywords on Google too and some of my articles are ranking in between the 12-30 of Google results. Now nothing shows up here from my site.

    2. My Google impressions were going up every day, around 200-400 with clicks. Now they just got stucked there. Not even a single digit increased from the last around 10 days.

    Hello,

If your articles appear by searching with the site: operator that means Google is indexing them properly. But please note that ranking on Google depends on so much more than just your on-page optimization. Here are some reasons why your site might be experiencing a decline in ranking and impressions on Google.

    1. Seasonal Fluctuations: Certain industries or topics experience natural fluctuations in search volume throughout the year. If your website or content is related to a specific seasonal trend or event, it’s possible that the decline in ranking and impressions are due to a decrease in search interest during this period.

    2. Algorithm Updates: Google frequently updates its search algorithms, which can impact the visibility of websites in search results. If there have been recent algorithm changes, it’s possible that your website’s ranking has been affected, leading to a decline in impressions.

    3. Competitor Activity: Increased competition from other websites or changes in their SEO strategies can impact your ranking and impressions. If competitors are optimizing their content better or generating more relevant backlinks, it could lead to a decline in your own ranking and impressions.

To identify the specific reason for the decline in ranking and impressions, it’s essential to analyze your website’s performance, conduct a thorough review of your SEO strategy, and monitor changes in search trends and competitors.

You can use this guide to run an SEO audit on your site: https://rankmath.com/blog/seo-audit/

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.
