Is there a reason why GSC is seeing a noindex tag on my blog and some posts. There are no such instructions in robots.txt or in the rankmath settings for the page. Everything is set to “index” and also I have disabled that feature that stops thin pages from indexing but i get the same message. Why is this happening?
Thank you for reaching out to Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
We have inspected your blog and confirmed that it has a noindex tag that prevents it from being indexed by search engines.
To fix this issue, you need to edit your blog page and other pages and make sure you have set them to index. This will tell search engines that you want these pages to be crawled and ranked for your target keywords.
To apply the index tag to your page, you need to follow these simple steps:
Go to the WordPress dashboard and edit the page that you want to change the option for.
Scroll down to the Rank Math meta box below your page content and click on the Advanced tab.
Under the Robots Meta section, you will see a checkbox with different options. Choose Index if you want your page to be indexed or No Index if you don’t want your page to be indexed.
Save your changes and update the page.
You can repeat these steps for the other pages you mentioned.
We hope this helps and thank you for choosing Rank Math!
In this case, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
Ok i found it. This is the problem. On hair-blog page in rankmath top bar was set to noindex but on the actual page in advanced settings was set to index. In any case, why are they both not synced so that when one is changed the other also changes? I wasted so much time trying to figure this out. So why aren’t they synced?
We checked this on our local installation, and we can see that they work in sync as intended.
Can you please ensure that it is not in sync for your website ?
If that is the case then assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.
