Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math support and we apologize for the inconvenience.
To use Rank Math on a multisite network, you need to follow some specific steps. You can find them in our detailed guide here: https://rankmath.com/kb/install-rank-math-multisite/. Please check if you have done everything correctly.
If you still can’t activate the plugin, there might be a problem with your site’s URL settings. Here’s how to fix it:
- Go to your WordPress Dashboard > Settings > General and make sure your WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) are exactly the same.
- If that doesn’t work, you can disable the URL check by adding a small piece of code to your site. Learn how to add custom code to your site here: https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/. There, you’ll find different methods to add the code. Choose the one that suits you best.
The code you need to add is this:
php
/**
* Filter whether we need to check for URL mismatch or not.
*/
add_filter( 'rank_math/registration/do_url_check', '__return_false' );
- After adding the code, try to reconnect your account with Rank Math.
That should do it! Your plugin should be activated and working fine now.
If you have any other questions or issues, please let us know. We’re always happy to help.

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math support and we apologize for the inconvenience.
To help you resolve this issue, we might need to take a closer look at your website and settings. Please follow these steps:
- Edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress and FTP logins in the Sensitive Data section. This is a secure section that only our support staff can access.

- Make sure you take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
- If you prefer, you can use this plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead: https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/
- You can also use this plugin to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any): https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/
We appreciate your cooperation and patience. Thank you for choosing Rank Math.
Hello,
I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Hello,
To get around this issue you need to have the Rank Math plugin active on each sub-site individually instead of being active on the network.
When you activate on the network, it treats all the websites as being one with the same URL hence the warning message you see on your backend.
Hope this helps clarify the situation.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
