selective image indexing

    Rank Math free

    Hello,

I have a website built on Wpbakery page builder, however, I’m missing one feature – I would like to index selected images on a single page, while disabling other images, which I don’t prefer to have indexed (like backgrounds, other site elements) and make them visible on google image search (with none of the indexed images appearing in regular search).

I cannot find any indexing options on the website builder, and Rank Math allows only full page image inedx or noindex.

Any options I can make this work?

  • Hello,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for the inconvenience caused.

The background images are added using CSS and aren’t considered for indexing by Google. However, for other images on the page, you will have to use the robots.txt file to disallow the paths of the images you don’t want to get indexed:

    Disallow: /path/to/non-indexable-images/

There is no other way to prevent specific images from getting indexed. Here is how to edit your robots.txt file: https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-edit-robots-txt-with-rank-math/

Hope that helps. Let us know if you need any other assistance.
