Dynamic captions, Alt text resources

When filling in empty alt text, captions, etc., your docs say:

This approach has many advantages, and the most important ones are resource usage and speed. If the captions are applied to the actual images, your server will have to spend time and resources in adding captions to them. If you make any changes to this setting in the future, all the operations will have to be performed again. Applying the captions dynamically solves all these problems.

Are you saying that it is faster for server to create the dynamic text than reading an actual alt or caption field from the media library? Or are you just saying that it takes server resources to fill in the fields manually?

  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us and bringing your concern to our attention.

That statement from our documentation is referring to the physical modification of the image files themselves to add the captions. This process would indeed require the server to spend time and resources performing these modifications – not to mention that it needs to be repeated to the rest of the images.

By applying the captions dynamically, it means that the captions are generated or added programmatically when the image is displayed on a webpage (frontend), rather than modifying the image files directly. This approach avoids the need for the server to spend resources on modifying the images and allows for easier changes to the caption settings in the future.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need my assistance with anything else.
