Sitemap getting corrupt - Support

Hi,
When i start a purge for nitropack (its a caching plugin), the sitemap is getting corrupt.

I contacted their support and see their reply:

Hello Resul,

Thank you for the access.

I looked into RankMath’s configuration but I believe the issue is somewhere with them, rather than NitroPack.

It successfully generates a sitemap but this sitemap loads “only sometimes”. Also, links within the sitemap sometimes break and instead of 404, they redirect to the homepage. If we put NitroPack outside of the equation, it the sitemap is still not stable.

The thing with NitroPack is that we try to read the sitemap just like any other crawler and we follow the redirects. It is not directly related to purging the cache.

Can you reach out to RankMath to provide more information on this and see if they can help? If you are wondering how they can test too, just save the sitemap and browse it for a while on this URL https://brixxs.com/sitemap_index.xml. Give it 5-10 min, open it again and you will notice that it will start redirecting for no reason.

The issue is usually caused when your sitemap is heavily cached. However, we can see that your sitemap is now working properly:

Now suddenly its working. I added the snippet in functions.php, followed this: https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/#transient-cache. But its getting corrupt all the time. I lowered in rankmath settings the 1000 to 500 links per sitemap. Is that maybe a workaround?

Hello,

Yes, decreasing the links per sitemap helps your sitemaps load faster on your site as we only recommend 200 links per sitemap with a maximum of 500.

Please also note that Google crawls small-sized sitemaps faster. With this in mind, Rank math uses the links per sitemap limit to break down sitemaps into smaller parts. You can also check Google’s guidelines for sitemaps:

Right now im seeing a debugger for the rankmath redirects, how can i disable this? Test by going to: https://brixxs.com/nl/exact-online/

Hello,

The debugger screen will only show when you’re logged in to your WordPress dashboard/backend.

However, you can disable that in Rank Math > General Settings > Redirections > Debug Redirections
