Hi, I just added Rank Math instead of Yoast and I got the following message from Google:

    Missing field “item” (in “itemListElement”)

I tried to follow the migration guide from Yoast to Rank Math, but there was no option to migrate.

I also tried following this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/itemlistelement/
But under General Settings I don’t have the Breadcrumbs option, although I have activated Schema already in Rank Math.

Please advise how to fix this.

    Thank you

  • Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

You need to set up your breadcrumbs in order to fix that issue. If you can’t see the breadcrumbs option, you must be using Easy Mode. Please switch to Advanced mode and go back to the General settings to turn on and configure our breadcrumbs settings.

You can also refer to this tutorial for more details on how to set up breadcrumbs with Rank Math: https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-setup-breadcrumbs/

Please try these steps and see if they resolve your issue.

If the issue persists, please share your website URL here so we can further check.

    Looking forward to helping you.

Hi, thank you, we figured it out, but I find weird that I had to add code and it was not done automatically.

    Hello,

We are glad that it is all sorted out now.

This is because only a handful of themes that has our breadcrumbs code included when installed. If the breadcrumbs code is not built-in to that theme or any supported page builders, then you would need to manually add the breadcrumbs.

With that said, this is something we always want to improve so our users won’t go through this technical process of applying the breadcrumbs functionality.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need my assistance with anything else.
