Choose a Primary Category feature doesn’t work

    Hi,

    I’m just browsing all the topics and found that several users face the same issue – the primary category functionality doesn’t work.

    You answered that it was passed to the dev team and so on, yet on the website it’s still highlighted as a feature. I don’t think it’s fair.

    It turned out that the functionality was not working due to the template used.

    But I have another question – I use this functionality in WooCommerce. I have a product that is assigned to 2 different categories (sweaters and sweatshirts), one of which is marked as the primary one.

    The product URL structure contains the name of the category. In my case it is%shop%/%product_cat%/%product_name%.

    Such structure, however, even when choosing the primary category, causes 2 different URL addresses under which the product is available.

    example.com/shop/sweaters/product_name
    example.com/shop/sweatshirts/product_name

    I would like only the URL with the main category to be available.

    Can this be achieved thanks to this functionality, or will it already be a custom solution?

    This is expected behavior since the generation of product permalinks is controlled by WordPress. You may need a custom solution to achieve this.
