404 unrecognised URLs

    Hi, i’ve noticed lots of strange URLs in the 404 monitor including a long list of Themes and plug-ins that have never been installed on this site. The previous version of the site was html/php not WordPress so they are not previous urls.

    Are these from bots? If so is there anyway I can minimise or stop them? Will these be logged by Google as 404s?

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    No this will not be logged by Google, these kind of 404s are only detected by Rank Math when bots or visitors are interacting on your site. If the number of hits for each of the 404s is not high, you can ignore the errors since this will not impact your SEO.

    Thanks for the info Michael, that’s reassuring to hear that there is no negative impact on SEO. Most of the 404s are 1 or 2 visits so will ignore.
